SUMMARY:One Day Running Workshop to improve form and performance and prevent injury: Dublin\, August 22nd 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join World and European Medallist and Irish Olympian\, Catherina McKiernan for a Running Workshop\, suitable for runners of all levels – even beginners!\n(See below for more about Catherina McKiernan’s competitive record. \nTHE WORKSHOP includes individual recommendations\, training drills\, a Q&A section and easy and relaxed runs at a pace to suit the individual.\n• DRILLS: The core elements of the day are training modules\, demonstrations and drills\, focusing on posture\, leaning\, landing\, cadence\, heel lift and arm swing. Practice these exercises in everyday life movement\, so that they become familiar so that you can easily transfer them into your running.\n• 1/1 Analysis: As each module is covered\, Catherina will review each person’s progress individually\, and help you overcome any challenges with your form\, or posture.\n* PRACTICE RUNS: During the workshop Catherina mentors the class through each core drill\, giving the opportunity to get the feel of running more efficiently with good mechanics and with less impact on your body.\n• ASK AN EXPERT: Catherina is an excellent mentor and she encourages open communication in her workshops. She invites your questions on running\, which will benefit the whole class. She covers her FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – about training\, diet\, footwear\, breathing technique etc. and answers any other questions the participants may have.\nCatherina provides one-to-one advice with each runner to focus on the areas in which they need most practice. We also do a recorded video that you can listen to\, so that you ingrain it into your muscle memory and your new movement will become natural through time and with practice. \nDurning the workshop you will learn to run with correct posture\, which is the cornerstone of good running form. \nYou will learn to land properly and prevent those running related injuries\, like calf strains\, shin splints\, Achilles problems \, plantar fasciitis\, foot and knee pain. \nCatherina teaches you to work with gravity in your favour while running and this takes an immense amount of pressure of your body. \nYou will practice good arm movement and how to run up and down hills efficiently and with less effort. \nRunners learn to engage the core\, align the posture\, relax the limbs\, and take plentiful\, light steps\, landing midfoot. By directing your attention to the process of running (form and technique)\, you’ll reduce stress on the body\, which will lead to hugely improved running technique with fewer injuries\, improved speed\, and more pleasurable\, relaxing runs. \nRelaxation is a big part of good running form. The more you relax\, the longer and faster you will be able to run. You will scan your body and learn to let go of any tension that may be restricting your movement and slowing you down. \nCATHERINA MCKIERNAN – BIO\nIrish Olympian\, European Cross Country champion\, Winner of London\, Berlin\, and Amsterdam marathons\, and the current Irish marathon record holder. \nSince her retirement from competitive running\, Catherina has devoted herself to teaching a new generation of runners. Catherina is a sought-after fitness trainer and an expert on the mechanics of safe\, injury-free running.
